On August 11, the two releases, Laal Singh Chaddha and Raksha Bandhan had a lackluster start at the box office. The two films failed to gross a total of Rs. 20 crores on their first day, failing to capitalize on the Raksha Bandhan holiday. The opening day performance stunned the Hindi film industry and left the sector in disarray. And now we have more stunning news for all of our readers.

The theatre owners have voluntarily ed the screenings of both Laal Singh Ta and Raksha Bandhan due to low box office performance. 'Both films were released with roughly 10,000 screenings across the country, and none deserved this kind of exposure. Even on the first day, maximum show occupancy was as low as 10 to 12 persons. As a result of the no-show, the exhibitors opted to cut the showing of both films on the second day in order to conserve money and increase occupancy in the limited shows. '

While about 1300 Laal Singh Chaddha events have been cut, 1000 Raksha Bandhan shows have been curtailed across the country. 'Neither film deserved such a large release. While Laal Singh Chaddha is a no-show in the mass belts, Raksha Bandhan is a no-show in select multiplexes,' the source said, adding, 'In fact, despite the voluntary show reduction, several showing of both films were canceled on Saturday morning due to a lack of audience.' On the ground, the situation is catastrophic.'
