The biopic based on Elizabeth Taylor will follow her life in the transition of an actress to activist. Taylor who won an Oscar for Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf and Butterfield 8 is well known for her lavish lifestyle. It was her friendship with Roger Wall that changed things. The film written by Simon Beaufoy, Oscar-winning writer for Slumdog Millionaire follows Taylor’s journey of activism for HIV/AIDS awareness which began in the 1980s after she became associated with her assistant Roger Wall.

Producers Iain Canning and Emile Sherman’s statement reads, “Audiences are clearly fascinated by the private lives of iconic Hollywood stars. There is no one more iconic than Elizabeth Taylor. Simon Beaufoy has written a role that shines a light on Elizabeth's humour and humanity which will be beautifully brought to life through the extraordinary talents of Rachel Weisz. At its heart, A Special Relationship is a story of friendship. A Special Relationship is a celebration of how friendships can change people's lives, and how Elizabeth helped change the world.”

With Rachel Weisz’s acclaim for films like The Favourite, and Sunshine and The Whistleblower, she is all set to bring to the screen, A Special Relationship.
