Samyuktha, who is anticipating the release of her upcoming Tamil-Telugu multilingual movie Vaathi, recently revealed why she chose to drop her surname. A clip from a recent interview in which she revealed why she chose to drop her surname has piqued the interest of social media users.
Samyuktha was most recently seen in Pawan Kalyan's Telugu film Bheemla Nayak. In the film, she co-starred with Rana Daggubati. The film was a remake of the Malayalam blockbuster Ayyappanum Koshiyum. She played Rana's wife in the film. Samyuktha recently discussed officially abandoning her surname to set a good example.
She mentioned in the video that she has removed her surname from all of her social media profiles as well as the promotional content for her films. “This thought occurred to me long back. When we are enrolled in a school, we need a name for official purposes. So we never think so much back then. I always used to think about why people have this, this ‘tail’. The thought really struck me when I became an actor. When I understood the responsibility of an actor. I realized I shouldn’t have it (surname),” Samyuktha said in an interview.
She further added, “When I want to see equality, humanity and love all around. Keeping a surname makes it very contradictory to what I want. Also, my parents are divorced and my mother wished to not retain my father’s surname. I wanted to respect my mother’s feelings.”
Samyuktha portrays a biology teacher in Vaathi. The film, directed by Venky Atluri, also stars Dhanush and Samuthirakani. The film, set in the 1990s, will focus on the privatization of the education system. And also how private schools took over during that time period. Dhanush's Telugu debut will be marked by the film's bilingual production in Tamil and Telugu. Sir is the Telugu title. And both versions of the film will release internationally on February 17.
