After A Decade, Suriya's Upcoming Film Jai Bhim Gets A Certificate

Suriya's upcoming film, Jai Bhim, was recently submitted for censor and received an A certificate.

Suriya was last seen in director Sudha Konagara Prasad's Soorarai Pottru, which was released directly on Amazon Prime Video. The film was initially slated to release in theatres in 2020. Now, after a year, Suriya is back with yet another film, which will release on an OTT platform. Suriya's upcoming film, Jai Bhim, will premiere on Amazon Prime Video on November 2, on the occasion of Diwali. Jai Bhim is tipped to be a courtroom drama based on real-life incidents that took place n the 80s... Suriya will play the role of a lawyer in this hard-hitting film. One month ahead of the film's release, Jai Bhim was sent to the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) for certification.
It has been almost a decade since Suriya's films have received an A certificate. However, Jai Bhim has now been issued an A certificate for its content. Ram Gopal Varma's Rakta Sarithiram (2010) was the last film of Suriya that got an A certificate. Along with the poster of Jai Bhim, the makers unveiled the film's runtime as 164 minutes (2 hours and 44 minutes). Jai Bhim is adapted from the 1993 court case led by senior advocate Chandra to bring justice to the tribal woman belonging to the Irular community.
