The first part of a projected trilogy, Brahmastra: Part One- Shiva, starring Alia Bhatt and Ranbir Kapoor, was released on September 9. Although there is a lot of anticipation for the upcoming film, the cast for that part hasn't been made public yet. However, Shah Rukh Khan's character's spin-off, Mohan Bhargav, was revealed by Brahmastra director Ayan Mukerji, who stated that they are considering it. Ayan was recently asked if he would assign other filmmakers to the spin-offs of the characters. Ayan agreed, but Ranbir and Alia had other ideas and talked openly about Ayan's method of operation.
When asked Ayan if he would assign the spin-offs to different filmmakers, Ayan responded, '150%! There is no other way'. However, Ranbir responded, 'Nahi hoga'. The actor revealed that Ayan is really picky about every little thing. “Before Ayan answers let me just tell you Ayan is such that he will not let the costume department eat a certain kind of meal without knowing what's there in the ingredients of the meal. So he is that human being. A lot of people who have worked in the industry, for example, Namit Malhotra (CEO of VFX firm DNEG), who has worked in Hollywood a lot, says he has to delegate but he does not have it in him', Ranbir said.
James Cameron and Ayan Mukerji, according to Alia Bhatt, are the only two persons in the world who can work in this way. However, Ayan asserted that there is no alternative way to create the Astraverse and that he is open to cooperation. “There's no way to achieve what I really wanna achieve without a lot of collaboration. And I want to invite people writing fan theories, and definitely, other young directors, if we get the opportunity to build the Astraverse, that dream of mine is even bigger than the Brahmastra trilogy dream”, added Ayan.
Brahmastra, directed by Ayan Mukerji, features Shah Rukh Khan as well as Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, Amitabh Bachchan, Nagarjuna Akkineni, and Mouni Roy. On September 9, 2022, the movie was released in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, and Kannada.
