Anupama Parameswaran's Maniyarayile Ashokan to have a direct digital release on Netflix

Though many businesses have started in the country, the theaters still remain shut. The government is not showing any interest to reopen the theaters during these pandemic times. Initially, the makers of films that were due for release thought that situation will get settled by August. Thus, they didn't opt for any digital release. But now, it looks like the theaters will not open for the next few months. Thus, many Films are now opting for an OTT release. Now, latest Malayalam flick Maniyarayile Ashokan. Starring Anupama Parameswaran, Jacob Gregory, Nikhila Vimal, and Anu Sithara in the lead roles, this movie will stream on Netflix from the 31st of August. The makers have officially announced the news the other day. With this feat, it becomes the second Malayalam mainstream film to skip the theatrical release. Recently, Jayasurya and Aditi Rao Hydari starrer Sufiyum Sujathayum got premiered on Amazon Prime Video, by skipping the theatrical release. Maniyarayile Ashokan is being directed by Shamzu Zayba. Star actor Dulquer Salmaan is bankrolling the project. Apart from acting in the movie, Anupama Parameshwaran has also worked as an assistant director for the movie. The actress expresses her interest in the direction in the past. It looks like she is taking baby steps towards fulfilling that dream. Srihari K Nair composed the music of this movie. Sajad Kakku is handling the cinematography of the film. Appu N Bhattathiri is the editor of it.
