Theatres have been shut for several months now and all that the audiences are doing is passing time with watching the content that is available to them on various OTT platforms. While most of the content is already available there, a couple of new releases on these platforms are raising up all the expectations.

In the last couple of months, a films in various languages, which couldn’t make it to the theatres because of the pandemic, have released on OTTs. From Tamil film industry, Ponmagal Vandhal and Penguin have released already and both these films are women centric.

Well, there have been rumours that Dhanush’s Jagame Thandhiram is going to release on OTT. If this really happens, it would be the first big movie of a male star to release on digital platform sans theatrical release.

Sources have claimed that nobody has been approached by them, or none have asked them about releasing the film on OTT. The makers have said that there is no chance that the film would be release on a digital platform and skip theatrical release.

There are reports that Netflix has approached Y Not Studios to purchase the rights, but makers claim that there is no base to these rumours.

Directed by Karthik Subbaraj, Jagame Thandhiram also stars Aiswarya Lekshmi, Joju George, Sanchana Natrajan, Kalaiarasan, and James Cosmo. The film has music by Santhosh Narayanan.

Dhanush is definitely a big and bankable star in Tamil film industry and he is a pan India star. So it is pretty sure that releasing his film on an OTT would not be accepted by his fans.
