Filmmaker James Cameron's Avatar 2 is resuming shooting and production in New Zealand soon
Avatar released in 2009 and quickly became the highest grossing film ever and remained on top until 2019.

James Cameron's 2009 film Avatar is still considered a landmark film in the sci fi genre. The film is also remembered as the highest grossing film ever. The film was overtaken only be Avengers: Endgame in 2019 which turned a profit ever higher than Cameron's Avatar. However Cameron might soon break that record once again. James Cameron is currently busy working on Avatar 2. The film was shooting in New Zealand before the pandemic broke out. The film halted production as a preventive measure to tackle the issue of Covid-19.
Avatar 2 is now once again resuming shooting and production in New Zealand in the coming weeks. 'Our #Avatar sets are ready and we couldnt be more excited to be headed back to New Zealand next week,” Landau wrote on Instagram beneath a photo of two boats on the set.
New Zealand's Prime Minister Jacinda Arden has received worldwide praise for her quick and effective response to tackling the issue of Coronavirus in her country. New Zealand is one of the few countries in the world to have tackled the issue without enforcing any form of lockdown or such strict measures.
Previously James Cameron expressed his desire to begin work on Avatar 2 as soon as possible. He said, 'It’s putting a major crimp in our stride here.I want to get back to work on ‘Avatar,’ which right now we’re not allowed to do under state emergency laws or rules. So it’s all on hold right now. We were about to shoot down in New Zealand, so that got pushed. We’re trying to get back to it as quick as we can.”
