Kantara Producers Hombale Films Want To Take Sequel To Golden Globes

Rishab Shetty's Kantara, which hit the theatres on September 30, ended up grossing over Rs 450 crore worldwide. After massive reception, all eyes are on the sequel to Kantara. The makers recently revealed that Kantara 2 is currently in the making and the shooting will commence later this year. In an interview with IndiaToday.in, Vijay Kiragandur of Hombale Films said, 'We tried to go to the international award circuit with Kantara but we had very limited time as the film released on September 20. The RRR (release date March 24) team had plenty of time and they went all out to promote the film. We have to plan at least 6 months before the awards to ensure that the people (who vote) watch the film. Whether they vote or not is a different question but we need to screen it for them so they can judge the film. We have done our homework and learnt our lesson this year. Going forward, we’ll be more equipped to take our movies to the Golden Globes or Oscars. We definitely want our movies to win some awards at the Golden Globes and Oscars. We wanted an award win for Kantara but we had limited time.' commence later this year. Explaining their plans, they said, 'So, now we know the kind of impact Kantara has had and there are high expectations also. This movie is more suitable for the international award circuit. We will definitely go all out when Kantara 2 is released.'
