Kriti Sanon and Pankaj Tripathi's Mimi, directed by Laxman Utekar, is the latest release that has started a debate on social media. The film is about surrogacy, parenting, and social media taboos. The film has received mixed reviews from critics and audiences alike. Mimi is based on a Marathi film titled Mala Aai Vhhaychy!. Kriti Sanon played the role of a pregnant woman in the film. She gets pregnant through surrogacy for a foreign couple. On knowing that the child has some pre-birth mental issues, the foreigners leave Kriti Sanon on her own to take care of her child. How she copes up with the struggle forms the story. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the film was released on the OTT platform.
After the film's success, a leading production house down South is said to have acquired the Tamil and Telugu remake rights of Mimi. It has been reported that Keerthy Suresh is in consideration to play the lead role in the Tamil and Telugu versions of Mimi. However, an official announcement regarding the same is yet to be made. It is to be seen if Keerthy would agree to play a pregnant woman once again in her career. She played the role of a pregnant woman in director AL Vijay's Penguin, which is streaming on Amazon Prime Video.
