The stupendous success of Baahubali paved way for the Indian filmmakers to tell the historic and period stories on the large screen on a grand scale. In the recent past, we have seen big-budget flicks like Padmaavat and Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy hitting the screens. Now, other period flicks like Panipat and Tanaji are also gearing up for the release. There is one such film made down in the Malayalam film industry, called Mamangam.
Directed by M. Padmakumar, Mamangam is a period war drama that is mostly based on real incidents. The film's plot revolves around the war that happened in the Malabar region during the Mamankam festival, in the 18th century. Star actor Mammootty
is playing the lead role in the film while prominent actors like Unni Mukundan, Tarun Arora and Prachi Tehlan have played the key roles.
Speaking in a recent interview, Mammootty said that Mamangam is not a revenge story as it is being speculated in media. Instead, it says that there is no point in taking revenge. The film is also getting dubbed into Telugu and Tamil. Popular director Ram is penning the dialogues for the Tamil version.
This is VFX heavy film and RC Kamal Kannan, who worked for Baahubali, also supervised the VFX works of this film. He said that there are 2050 VFX shots in the film, which is quite a lot. Mamangam is all set to hit the screens on the 12th of December.
