Megastar Chiranjeevi acquired the rights to the hit Malayalam film Lucifer a while ago. Megastar brought in director Sujeeth of Saaho fame to helm the film. However, rumor has it that Chiranjeevi wasn't quite happy with director Sujeeth's script and narration. While some other reports said that a director change is in order, some others said that Chiranjeevi is planning to shelf the Lucifer remake. The rumors of cancellation were gaining traction. However, according to the latest reports, the Lucifer remake is very much in the works! Chiranjeevi is planning on handing over the remake to another director.

Sources also say that director Sujeeth is out of the project and is on his way to work on a new venture with UV Creations with actor Gopichand. Thus, a director change is in order.

The Malayalam drama Lucifer was actor Prithviraj Sukumaran’s directorial debut. The film was critically acclaimed and was a massive hit at the box office. Lucifer was the highest-grossing Malayalam film of the year 2019.

Megastar Chiranjeevi is currently working on his upcoming film Acharya. The film will not hit the theaters until next summer. So, the schedule buys Ram Charan, the remake's producer, some time to get it back on track.

Meanwhile, the makers of the social drama Acharya are now aiming for a 2021 release. There is no news of a definite release date. The action entertainer also stars Kajal Aggarwal. Ram Charan is also going to appear in an important role in the film. Koratala Siva is directing social drama. Ram Charan is bankrolling the film under the Konidela Productions banner.
