Nagarjuna and Naga Chaitanya have joined hands to play the lead roles in director Kalyan Krishna's Bangarraju. The film also stars Ramya Krishnan and Krithi Shetty. After SS Rajamouli's RRR and Prabhas's Radhe Shyam are postponed, the makers of Bangarraju have decided to hit the theatres on January 14, on the occasion of Sankranti. Bangarraju is a sequel to Soggade Chinni Nayana, which starred Nagarjuna and Ramya Krishnan. Bangarraju will have a limited release due to restrictions because of rising Covid-19 cases across the country.

Speaking about the film's release in The Times of India, Nagarjuna said, 'I know how hard the team of RRR has worked for the film. I personally know them and feel bad their film is postponed. It’s not just a pan-India film, it’s supposed to release across the world – it deserves that. It’s the same with Radhe Shyam, what is happening is really unfortunate. The situation is really bad right now and the only reason we’re releasing it is that we can’t hold on to it any longer. I don’t know if it’s an advantage to the film though. The slashed ticket prices in AP will make no difference to my film. It will earn a little less but that’s okay.”
