Nawazuddin Siddique Talks About The Importance Of Cannes

Nawazuddin Siddique, who is used to attending Cannes regularly, is back at the film festival for the ninth time.

Nawazuddin Siddiqui is a regular at the Cannes Film Festival. This year, he is attending the festival for the ninth time. Earlier, his films Manto, Monsoon Shootout, Gangs of Wasseypur 2, and Miss Lovely were screened at the festival. In a conversation with Hindustan Times, Nawazuddin Siddiqui said, “Representing India is always special. Be it on my birthday or any other day. I have spent five-six of my birthdays at Cannes as it’s been held around the same time every year. I am not a person who celebrates birthdays as such. It’s just like a normal day.”
He further added, “I had never thought that I will go to Cannes one day when I had started. It’s the Mecca of cinema, Vahan Charon Taraf ache cinema ki baat hoti hai, box office collection ki baat Nahi hoti. Hum jo collection ki baatein kar kar ke cinema dekh rahe hain na aaj kal? Vahaan uski baat nahi hoti.”This year, six films from India are being screened at the Cannes Film Market. These include Rocketry The Nambi Effect (Hindi, English, Tamil), Godavari (Marathi), Alpha Beta Gamma (Hindi), Boomba Ride (Mishing), Dhuin (Maithili), and Niraye Thathakalulla Maram (Malayalam).
