Priyanka Chopra Jonas is a worldwide celebrity today, but there was a time when she was body shamed and even termed dusky. Now, she wears many hats, including that of an actress, producer, writer, and businesswoman.

The actress enjoys a huge fan base and is one of only four Indians to appear on the BBC's list of '100 Women' this year. The actress spoke on a variety of topics in her interview with the portal, including pay inequality and body shaming. She admitted that she experienced body shaming in her early days in Bollywood due to her skin tone.

Upon becoming Miss India in 2000, Priyanka made her Bollywood debut. She made her acting debut in 2002 with Sunny Deol in The Hero. The Mujhse Shaadi Karoge actress recalled her nicknames, saying, “I was called a black cat, dusky. I mean, what does 'dusky' even mean in a country where we are literally all brown? I thought I was not pretty enough, I believed that I would have to work a lot harder, even though I thought I was probably a little bit more talented than my fellow actors who were lighter skinned.”

When asked about the pay disparity, Priyanka Chopra responded that she wouldn't even receive 10% of what her male co-stars received. “I thought it was okay to wait for my male co-actor,” she added.

The actress has been honoured with a national fashion award. She has also given outstanding performances in movies like Bajirao Mastani, Mary Kom, Barfi, and 7 Khoon Maaf, among others.

Priyanka will next be seen in Citadel. Richard Madden is the star of the new science fiction drama series. It is helmed by Patrick Morgan. She will appear in Jee Le Zaraa, directed by Farhan Akhtar, alongside Alia Bhatt and Katrina Kaif in Bollywood.
