Rana Daggubati's debut film Leader completes 10 years of its release

Everyone was skeptical about Rana's choice of opting a political drama Leader, rather than going for a safe option.

Unlike every other star kid, Rana Daggubati opted not to do a commercial film as his debut flick and chose a political thriller to be his launchpad. Then formed the film Leader, directed by Shekhar Kammula. This maiden film of Rana completes 10 years of its release today.

The leader had hit the screens on 19th February 2010. Everyone was skeptical about Rana's choice of opting for a political drama, rather than going for a safe option. But much to everyone's surprise, Leader became a box office success and is often termed as one of the finest political movies ever made in Telugu cinema. No one would think that Rana is a first-timer after watching this film. Such was his performance in it. It also marked the debuts of actresses Richa Gangopadhyay and Priya Anand.
 
Until then, everyone thought that Shekhar Kammula can only make love stories and college dramas. But the Leader changes the perception of critics on him. Seasoned actors like Kota Srinivasa Rao, Suhasini, Subbaraju and Harshavardhan gave memorable performances in the movie. Over the years, Leader gained a cult status among the Telugu folks and is still enjoyed by many when it gets telecasted on Television. The film got bankrolled by the iconic production house, AVM Studios.
