We had earlier reported that director Ponram's upcoming film MGR Magan was slated to hit the theatres on April 23. However, the makers have now decided to postpone the film's release due to the spike in Covid-19 cases in Tamil Nadu and the new lockdown restrictions. The Tamil Nadu government has announced a night curfew from 10 pm to 4 am because of which night shows in theatres cannot be held. Further, the government has announced a complete lockdown on Sunday. Considering these new riles, the makers of MGR Magan have decided to postpone the release of the film yet again. Initially, the team has planned to release in March 2020.
At the beginning of April, the Tamil Nadu government announced that theatres will operate with 50 per cent occupancy. Dhanush's Karnan was one of the films that had to suffer a dent in the collection because of this. Considering the footfalls, Screen Scene Productions have released a statement announcing the postponement of MGR Magan. Apart from Sasikumar and Samuthirakani, Sathyaraj and Saranya Ponvannan will be seen in important roles. Mrinalini Ravi has been roped in to play the female lead in this film.
