If you can't wait till January 2023 to see Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone in 'Pathaan,' then check out this intriguing update! The popular on-screen duo will soon be seen together again on the big screen, as their debut film, 'Om Shanti Om,' is slated to be re-released in theatres.
The film has been out for 15 years and is set to be re-released in over 20 cities across the country, including Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Patna, Bhopal, and Ahmedabad. The screening is set for November 17th.
The idea behind the special screening of 'Om Shanti Om' is not because of the box office success of 'DDLJ' early this month but because of an initiative by SRK's fan club - SRK Universe.
The Farah Khan directorial that marked Deepika's Bollywood debut 15 years ago will be screened at select theatres. The blockbuster revolves around a struggling actor, played by Shah Rukh, who falls in love with a successful actress Shantipriya (played by Deepika). But before his love could blossom and his career flourish, he dies in an accident. Thirty years later, he's reborn and avenges Shantipriya's death.
Following 'Om Shanti Om,' SRK and Deepika worked together again in films such as 'Chennai Express (2013) and 'Happy New Year' (2014). And now, the couple will be featured in 'Pathaan,' which will release in theatres on January 25, 2023. Siddharth Anand directs 'Pathaan,' which also stars John Abraham.
On the occasion of SRK's birthday earlier this month, the makers of 'DDLJ' re-released the film in a few theatre chains around the country. Despite facing competition from several other new releases, the film grossed a surprising amount at the box office.
