Sathyaraj and Smruthi Venkat play the lead roles in director Dheeran's Theerpugal Virkapadum. The film, which talks about rape crimes, will release in theatres on December 31. In a statement, Dheeran said that the film would not have been possible if not for Sathyaraj.
Dheeran said, 'Sathyaraj sir is the main reason behind the film getting materialized and releasing now with a decent opening. He has been the backbone of innumerable projects across the decades. He has been one of the rarest content-driven heroes of the Indian film fraternity, and I am so glad that he accepted to be a part of Theerpugal Virkkapadum. To be honest, I wrote the script keeping Sathyaraj sir in mind as I couldn’t think of anyone pulling off this role with excellence. Be the avatar of ‘Angry Man’ or dotting and affectionate ‘Father’, it is only Sathyaraj sir, who can effortlessly emote and bring up the finest output. As an audience, I have admired these aspects of Sathyaraj sir on the big screens, and now to experience the same while working with him is bliss. Smiruthi Venkat’s performance has been colossal, and her characterization is the soul of this film. She has delivered a flawless performance. Both the actors have beautified the father-daughter relationship genuinely with their naturalistic acting. I thank producer Salim sir for choosing this script and giving me an opportunity to embark on a directorial journey with confidence. I thank Dr. Prabhu Tilaak sir for facilitating an excellent release for this film. Theerpugal Virkkapadum will be a hard-hitting tale blended with emotions and a thought-provoking theme.”
