There has been continuous talk about RRR's potential to win big at the Oscars in 2023 during the entire year of 2022. However, the Last Film Show (Chello Show) was revealed as India's official submission to the renowned award night in October 2022, contrary to expectations that it would be disclosed at the country's official entry for the Oscars. Everyone was caught off guard by the behaviour, which sparked a range of responses on social media.
Soon after, SS Rajamouli and the RRR crew made the decision to become independent and submitted nomination requests in a number of categories, including best actor, best director, and best picture.
When RRR wasn't selected as India's official entry for the best foreign feature film category at the 95th Academy Awards, Vijayendra Prasad admitted that he was a bit disappointed in an interview during the 53rd IFFI in Goa. “Yes, I was disappointed, but unfortunately, I can’t express my disappointment as I was directed affected by the decision,” says Vijayendra Prasad, the scriptwriter for the SS Rajamouli-helmed Jr. NTR and Ram Charan film.
However, the talented writer is optimistic. “I am hopeful to get at least a couple of nominations at the Oscars', he said. SS Rajamouli recently announced his intention to produce RRR 2. When questioned about it, he responds, “Yes, we are thinking of making RRR 2. My son wants me to write a sequel. It will be again a fiction story with the same characters played by the two (Jr. NTR and Ram Charan),” he says concisely.
Prasad claims that the first script of Bajrangi Bhaijaan 2 is complete despite the fact that his son, SS Rajamouli's, desire to produce the Mahabharata will take some time. “Mahabharata will take some time, whereas I have written a draft of Bajrangi Bhaijaan 2. It’s in Salman Bhai now on when to start the film,” he concludes.
