Keanu Reeves is immensely loved by all. His performance is greatly loved by his fans and celebrities alike. However, what makes him stand out the most is his good-natured attitude. He is kind and friendly to his co-stars as well as his fans. Keanu’s interactions speak volumes for his personality. One of his former co-star: Winona Ryder is all praise for the actor. In an interview with UK’s The Sunday Times, she opened up about her friendship with Reeves from the set of 1992 film, Bram Stoker's Dracula.
She recalled how he stood up for her. Ryder was only 20 at the time while Reeves was 28, and it was their first movie together. In the interview, Winona revealed how she had trouble crying in a scene for the film for which Coppola suggested verbally abusing her in an attempt to generate some tears. To this, Reeves refused to chime along.
To give context, Winona said, 'I’m supposed to be crying. Literally, Richard E. Grant, Anthony Hopkins, Keanu [Reeves]… Francis was trying to get all of them to yell things that would make me cry. But Keanu wouldn’t, Anthony wouldn’t. It just didn’t work. I was, like, really? It kind of did the opposite.”
From these experiences came out a long lasting friendship between the two. Their friendship has lasted for about 30 years now, with a healthy personal and work relationship... They’re two of the fortunate few who came out on the other side of young adulthood and have kept their acting careers going well into their adult years.
Winona also revealed how she misses him like crazy as the lockdown has prevented her from seeing him. “I love Keanu,” she gushed in the interview. “We’re great friends. I miss him so much, and it’s hard because he’s not far, just over there.”
