Badla Movie Tagline:
Taapsee and Amitabh Bachchan gift a brilliant whodunit thriller
Badla Movie Summary:
Naina (Taapsee Pannu) pulls off a shocker when she gets named as an accused of murdering Arjun (Tony Luke). Naina gets the help of lawyer Jimmy (Manav Kaul) to help her. But, Jimmy seeks the help of senior advocate Badal Gupta (Amitabh Bachchan) to get her out of the problem.
The film gives us an insight into what really happened in Naina’s case and how Badal decides to help her. Will he get her out of the case? What really happened between Naina and Arjun?
Badla Movie Performances:
Taapsee Pannu as Naina is perfect and she should be lauded for taking up a complex character and performing it with a lot of finesse and ease.
Amitabh Bachchan has a straight face for most of the film. But, his baritone voice does the magic. He gets to mouth some intense dialogues.
Tony Luke and Amrita Singh in their parts have delivered their best performance in Badla.
Badla Movie Positives:
Badla is the Hindi remake of Spanish film The Invisible Guest. But, Director Sujoy Ghosh and co-writer Raj Vasant have brought in the twists and turns by incorporating Mahabharata.
The script detailing an intense screenplay will have the audience hooked to the screen throughout. The film is etched really well and kudos to the makers for picking this story.
Revenge-drama is one of the most done-to-death genres in Indian cinema. So, it requires the makers to develop the script and be on their toes so that the audience would travel with you throughout the story.
Taapsee and Amitabh Bachchan’s exchanges are an important part of the story. Their stories lees taking to back and forth to know what really happened.
Cinematography by Avik Mukhopadhyay, editing by Monisha R Baldawa and the background score by Clinton Cerejo have aided Sujoy Ghosh’s story very well.
Badla Movie Negatives:
The dialogues are repetitive and taking the audience back and forth to the events that transpired in Naina and Arjun’s life might become too overbearing.
The film concentrates on the performance of Taapsee and Amitabh Bachchan alone. It might look like the film is litter longer than it is.
Badla Movie Verdict:
Even though the film is a remake of a well-made Spanish film, the Indian version has a lot of creativity woven into the story with compelling twists and turns.
