Liger Review- Story

Liger(Vijay) and his mother Balamani(RamyaKrishna) leave Karimnagar, Telangana and reside in Mumbai. Balamani dreams to see her son as an MMA champ. He gets trained under an MMA coach. But the love track with Tanya (Ananya) changes his life. Can Liger actually go on to become an MMA champ?

Liger Review- Analysis

Liger, right from the outset is a madcap actioner. But the problem here is that the film lacks even a basic plotline or a destined narrative. It simply is a compilation of one random action sequence, one love scene, and one confrontation placed in no particular order. Everything seems just so random.

Vijay Deverakonda is a talented actor and he does his best to salvage this mediocre film but his efforts are in vain as Puri’s screenplay heads nowhere. The Akdi Bakdi lead scene, ladies' fight, the interval block, and the climax fight are all too silly.
For action potboilers to click, at least the screenplay should be compelling enough if the story isn’t the mainstay. Puri, being a master of the pacy screenplay in the past should’ve been more focused on this front. But sadly, he isn’t and this is where things go south.
The MMA fight sequences lack the desired impact to make for a good watch and it is hard to comprehend how Puri let go off this while he made the whole film on this plot.
The Mike Tyson track is also executed poorly as it has no purpose. Ananya Panday track is also poorly conceived, much like most other parts of the film. The background score is poor and it doesn’t connect with the sensibilities of the Telugu audience. The cinematography is alright. The editing is a mess.
As a whole, Liger ends up as a colossal dud that fails in almost every aspect. We expect more from two skilled individuals like Vijay Deverakonda and Puri Jagannadh.
