Lucifer Movie Tagline:
Prithviraj and Mohanlal strikes a chord with political-thriller.
Lucifer Movie Story:
Lucifer marks the directorial début of actor Prithviraj Sukumaran. The film brings together two talented technicians Prithviraj and Mohanlal.
Lucifer starts off the untimely death of Chief Minister PK Ramdas (Sachin Kadekar). His death sheds light on the ugly side of his party in which the cadres fight for the CM post. In comes Ramdas’s son-in-law Bobby with a glorious offer. He offers funds to employ his people to help his illegitimate business.
However, Ramdas’s close aid Stephen Nedumpally (Mohanlal) is against the idea. Bobby tries his hard to tarnish Stephen’s image, but showcase his other side.
Lucifer Movie Perfomance:
Mohanlal as Stephen is brilliant as usual. Since this is a political film, he limited his facial expressions which were suitable for the role of a politician.
However, Mohanlal’s performance is outshined nu Vivek Oberoi brilliant demeanor. His role had ample scope for him to display his acting chops and it is a fitting début for the Bollywood actor.
Sai Kumar on his part is excellent in his role and he has managed to impress everyone even though he had limited screen presence.
Manju Warrier has a solid role to play in this political thriller. However, her performance gets immersed in the proceedings.
Indrajith and Tovino Thomas too executed their parts very well. Prithviraj has gotten the best of the cast and has pulled off a cracker.
Lucifer Movie Positives:
Prithviraj Sukumaran has done a wonderful job as a director in pulling off a mass entertainer with a Superstar in the lead role. Though the plot is a done to death storyline, Prithviraj has packed in enough punch.
Murali Gopy has helped with the film’s script and nothing in the film has his stamp. He has literally showcased a new side of him in Lucifer.
Prithviraj as a first-time Director has impressed the audience by giving details to the characters. All the prime actors have multiple characteristics which help with the film’s screenplay.
Cinematographer Sujit Vasudev’s work needs a special mention as his frames do the talking. His visuals have aided the film’s narrative and the tone of the movie.
Lucifer Movie Negatives:
Deepak Dev’s music is good for the most part. However, the background score is a bit jarring and too loud in several instances throughout the movie.
The second half of the film is full of punch dialogues for Mohanlal which is a treat. But, it gets a little tired when he mouths punch lines continuously.
Lucifer is a mass entertainer that is a sort of tribute to Mohanlal. The film has plenty of moments that will make his fans nostalgic.
