Maharshi Movie Tagline:
Over stretched but works in parts.
Maharshi Movie Story:
Rishi (Mahesh Babu) is a successful business tycoon in the US. For him, success is important and he doesn’t care about anything else. One day, his personal assistant arranged a surprise reunion for Rishi.
Rishi is reminded of his past and realized that two important people from his college life are missing. He begins to learn what happened to them and the revelations bring him back to India. What happened to Pooja, the love of his life?
What happened to Ravi (Allari Naresh), who sacrificed his career for the success Rishi wants to achieve them in his life? Rishi is back to India to win in his life. His definition of success has changed.
Maharshi Movie Performances:
Maharshi is Mahesh’s show all the way, he carries the film on his broad shoulders with his impeccable performance. He looks younger than ever in Maharshi and he has impressed the audience yet again with his natural charm
Pooja Hegde, too, has delivered an honest performance. She is bubbly and brings the much-needed lightness to the film.
Allari Naresh has displayed his acting skills in the most beautiful way possible. It is good to see him in a well-written role that explores his acting talents.
Vennela Kishore, Rao Ramesh, Jayasudha and Prakash Raj, despite their limited screen presence, have given their best.
It has become a routine for directors to rope in Jagapathi Babu as the menacing suave looking villain. And he does his job with ease.
Maharshi Movie Positives:
Director Vamsi Paidipally has a solid story in his hand and has brought in some much-needed messages that are relevant to today’s problems faced by society.
It was so good to see Mahesh Babu as a college student. He brings in the touches of laughter and it was quite refreshing to see him laugh and have fun with Pooja and Allari Naresh.
The first half of the film is quite fun while the second half is emotional with a lot of heart-warming moments.
Mahesh Babu and Pooja Hegde’ costumes are eye-pleasing and their costume designers should be applauded for doing a great job.
Cinematography sphere C U Mohanan‘s work is impeccable and the tonality used for the US and village scenes are perfect for the mood of the film.
Maharshi Movie Negatives:
Even though Vamsi had a great plot, he had stretched it too much that the audience feels bored at one point in time. There are several unnecessary scenes that stretched the screenplay.
Devi Sri Prasad songs didn’t help the film much– except the call-for-revolution number ‘Padhara Padhara’, they don’t contribute much to take the story forward. Background score is just ok.
The editing could have been a bit crisp as the length of the movie test your patience at times and the story also turns predictable towards the second half of the film.
Maharshi Movie Verdict:
Maharshi has nothing new to offer but the director still makes it work with decent emotional elements which are backed by a sensible friendship angle and interesting sub-plot about farming.
Overall, Maharshi is neither an awesome film nor an unbearable watch... Watch it for the good theme and the towering performance of Mahesh Babu.
