Manmadhudu 2 Movie Review
Manmadhudu 2 Story:
The story of Manmadhudu 2 movie is about Sambasiva Rao aka Sam (Akkineni Nagarjuna) is a resident in Portugal. After a nasty love failure, he becomes a playboy and decides not to marry again. He has one goal in life which is to make love.
This is when his extended family forces him to marry. He decided to chalk out a plan by involving Avantika (Rakul Preet Singh) by hiring a girlfriend for rent. How does it turn out for Nagarjuna forms the story.
Manmadhudu 2 Performances:
*Akkineni Nagarjuna is a man who never ages. He still manages to look young and that's why the title of Manmadhudu 2 suits him. His acting in the film is neat and suits the character well.
*Rakul Preet as Avantika is a breath of fresh air. She is what she is because of her past and that is well depicted. She gets a well-rounded character which she performs it with grace.
*Vennela Kishore is the saving grace of Manmadhudu 2 by evoking laughs with his comedy sense and perfect timing. His terrific form is put to good use and it works well for the story.
*We also see veteran actress Lakshmi, Devadarshini, Jhansi and Rao Ramesh have done their parts well.
Manmadhudu 2 Positives:
*Director Rahul Ravindran has attempted to make a proper commercial flick with a predictable storyline. He has also treated it in a different way.
*When it comes to woman characters, Rahul Ravindran does a good job of portraying them with dignity. With respect to Avantika, he has given her a strong characterization which is refreshing to look at.
*The cinematography by M Sukumar is too good. The framing is excellent and shows Portugal in a different light.
Manmadhudu 2 Negatives:
Very poor writing and direction
However, the film has a wafer-thin storyline and relies heavily on comedy. Most of the comedy sequences fall flat and bores the audience.
The screenplay is bland for the most part of the film and it only picks up in the pre-climax and climax but by then, you are tired of seeing the proceedings in the film.
In the first half, there is heavy usage of Portuguese and we wonder why the makers didn't feel awkward to include so many Portuguese dialogues in a Telugu film.
Too many double meaning dialogues make you feel cringe
Music is in poor taste another major let down in the movie.
Manmadhudu 2 Analysis and Verdict:
There is no story whatsoever, The movie starts off on a decent note with few fun moments but fizzles out in no time. The director Rahul Ravindran in his second ventures misses more targets than he hits. In some sequences, he is good with comedy but those sequences are rare and In others, he struggles to communicate his point with authenticity. The film has a poor first half except for a few comedy scenes with over the top and deliberate cheesiness of Nagarjuna’s character and senseless turns of events that you would expect from a mass film.
The second-half looked story-less and a mere drag! The story develops fast but as the climax approaches, things become way too predictable and mundane. The kind in which you start looking for breaks or tweeting. It was a decent try to build a few emotional scenes in pre-climax but wasn't a very successful attempt. The main problem of Manmadhudu 2 is it’s writing, A film with a wafer-thin storyline depending heavily on comedy needs to have the writing of the highest order. What makes the experience further worse is the liberal dosage of Portuguese dialogues thrown in. For a moment, one may even think that the actors are acting in a ridiculously long advertisement by the Portugal tourism board.
The one thing which does not disappoint much in the film is the acting bit. In fact, performances are the savior of this otherwise sinking ship. Surprisingly, these are not lead by the main characters but Vennela Kishore and Rao Ramesh supporting roles. Vennela Kishore has delivered an ace while Rao Ramesh is not far behind either though he has got less screen time. Nagarjuna, besides the first half-hour, does well too even though he was a bit over-dramatic in comedy and emotional scenes.
Rahul Ravindran “Manmadhudu 2 " is like a fancy boutique situated in a romantic city. It sells everything from horseplay to foreplay, targeted at the young generation and endorsed by good-looking people. However, by the time you fill your cart with one or two good pieces and go to the counter to check out, you take a glimpse at the backside storeroom, and repulse in fear because you realize you have been duped by men and women with Romantic scenes which don't make you feel or convey the romance, the emotional scenes don't make you emotional and only left with few flashes of few humour scenes here and there.
Overall, ‘Manmadhudu 2’ is a mediocre written wannabe romantic film with poor music, writing, and direction. Skip it, or use as a travel guide when you visit Portugal.
