Malik Movie Review

Malik Story:

Sulaiman(Fahadh), a crooked gangster resorts to violence in order to fight for the rights of the people in his area. Those who live by the sword die by the sword - This phrase pretty much sums up what follows later in the story.

Malik Analysis:

Malik has a raw and hard-hitting plot that highlights the atrocious nature of modern-day politics. The socio-political thriller unfolds at its own pace and it mainly banks on the stellar performances from the lead cast.

Fahadh shines bright in this middling political thriller. He is a gem of an actor and sets the mood with his brilliant performances. Sensitive subjects like communal riots and vote bank politics are presented in an authentic manner. The drama angle that has been incorporated into the whole fiasco works in parts. Mahesh Narayanan picks a novel subject and narrates it with great conviction. But the momentum keeps going up and down every now and again. The screenplay is arresting at times but the tempo goes down more often than not. The conflict point is laced with violence, drama, and sociopolitical elements. This isn’t necessarily a genre that appeals to all sections of the audience. Sanu Varghese’s cinematography is impeccable and so is the background score by Sushin Shyam. Production designing is of top drawer quality as well.

Malik Verdict:

Those who love realistic political thrillers with a drama-oriented set-up will definitely enjoy watching the Fahadh Faasil starrer. The film will most certainly draw polarized opinions.
