The Sky Is Pink Movie Review:

Zaira Wasim effortlessly plays the role of the strong-willed Aisha. Priyanka Chopra and Farhan Akhtar give a starry edge to The Sky Is Pink.

Directed by Shonali Bose, "The Sky Is Pink" employs simpler and more popular methods to script another cinematic account drawn from real life. Her first two directorial ventures - Amu and Margarita, With A Straw - were crafted cinematic essays inspired by personal experiences. Shonali said "with The Sky Is Pink, I have completed my Delhi Trilogy".

Zaira (Aisha) loses her life four years after she is diagnosed with pulmonary fibrosis, a result of the bone-marrow transplant and chemotherapy sessions she underwent as an infant. But her spirit lives on to narrate the story of her own death and that of her parents, Aditi and Niren Chaudhary (Priyanka Chopra and Farhan Akhtar). Aisha's story is too well-documented to bear repetition in a two-and-a-half-hour film. Zaira has a charismatic presence on the screen as Aisha. Rohit Saraf, playing Aisha's elder brother Ishaan, gives a solid account of himself. Priyanka Chopra and Farhan Akhtar bring life to the character of Aditi and Buren Chaudhary. The film also showcases that family love transcends everything life.

The Sky Is Pink is of a hue that sets it apart from Bose's earlier films. The director is conscious of the story she is working with here and uses correct frames to deliver a warm-hearted picture that does not lose sight of its primary purpose. Unmissable.
