Vantha Rajavathaan Varuven Review

Rating: 2.5

Vantha Rajavathaan Varuven Tagline:

Simbu and Sundar C churns our an underwhelming entertainer.

Vantha Rajavathaan Varuven Summary:

Raghunanthan (Nasser) is a successful business person in Madrid. He tells his grandson Adhi (Simbu) that he wishes to reunite with his daughter Nandhini (Ramya Krishnan) and want to live as one family.

Raghunanthan has ousted Nandhini from his house when she married a man (Prabhu) of her choice. To fulfill his grandfather’s wish, Adhi enters Nandhini’s house as driver Raja.

How does Raja convince Nandhini’s family and make them reunite with her father Raghunanthan forms the rest of the story?

Vantha Rajavathaan Varuven Performances:

Simbu, who did a serious role in Chekka Chivantha Vaanam is back as the fun-loving young lad. He has super fun playing the role of Adhi and it’s visible on-screen.

Nasser is a veteran actor and when you cast him in a role like this, he could do this with his eyes closed.

Though Ramya Krishnan‘s role is minimal, she is terrific as Nandhini who commands the entire household.

Catherine Tresa and Megha Akash are a glamorous addition to the cast of Vantha Rajavathan Varuven and have done their bit for the film.

Vantha Rajavathaan Varuven Positives:

What happens when Simbu stars in Sundar C’s type of films is quite interesting. Vantha Rajavathan Varuven is the answer to it and they have succeeded in making a film that speaks of 90s.

Even though there are three comedians in the film, it was Yogi Babu who made people laugh with his antics. Others just get beaten up and expect people to laugh at it.

Simbu comes out with punch dialogues after punch dialogues and makes the film strictly for his fans. Several dialogues in the film has references from his previous films or press releases.

The scene in which Simbu and Yogi Babu enacts Agalya’s story is one of the funniest sequences that has Sundar C written all over it.

Vantha Rajavathaan Varuven Negatives:

Vantha Rajavathan Varuven is a remake of Attarintiki Daredi. But the remake is just old-fashioned in all ways, especially in comedy sequences.

The film lacks depth in all characterisations. Perhaps if Sundar C had included more detailing, the film would have been more fun to watch out for.

The main drawback of the film is that it has nothing new to offer. Vantha Rajavathan Varuven has scenes that we have already seen in several other films.

Vantha Rajavathaan Varuven Verdict:

Vantha Rajavathan Varuven is a one-time watch for those who hadn’t seen Attarintiki Daredi. The film will test your patience at times, but if you are a Simbu fan, catch it in the theatres.
