Bhuj: The Pride Of India Review - Story

Following a devastating Bhuj Airstrip, Indian Air Force Wing Commander Vijay Karnik (Ajay Devgan) has to reconstruct the landing way with help from locals. Can he complete this overwhelmingly tough task on time to ensure that Indian soldiers can use the airstrip to deploy more troops to fight off the Pakistan army?

Bhuj: The Pride Of India Review - Analsis

Bhuj: The Pride of India is possibly one of the utterly poor patriotic dramas ever to be made in Indian cinema. We are making it clear right at the start. Such is the colossal mess created by the director, Abhishek, who had no clue how to handle the biographical war drama based on the heroics of India’s proud son, Vijay Karnik.

The patriotic angle is there to be extracted right from the start but the incoherent subplots take the center stage soon after the film begins. The conflict point pertaining to tensions between India and Pakistan is presented in a very elaborate manner. The film takes forever to get into the core plot. But even after it does, we are served loud patriotic slogans rather than meaningful drama.

While making films on India’s war heroes, the emphasis should be on getting the emotional connection right and narrating their heroic stories in the most comprehensive manner possible. But that isn’t the case with Bhuj. The film is a dud that has nothing going in its Way.

The scenes related to villagers and natives helping Vijay form the main plot but this portion is left to the air. It is simply rushed and hence, the emotional connection goes missing. Stars like Ajay Devgan, Sonakshi Sinha, Sanjay Dutt, and Nora Fatehi can’t salvage this poorly written patriotic drama.

Bhuj: The Pride Of India Review - Verdict

Bhuj: The Pride of India had so much potential and if presented well, could have made for a supremely engaging watch. But the film is a colossal dud that is packed with a bunch of incoherent scenes. The fundamentally flawed screenplay and narrative are to be blamed for the same.
