Coolie No. 1 Review - Analysis
Coolie No. 1 is one of those films that give an implication that the viewer is in for a torturous ride right from the outset. The silly establishment of the lead track starts with Varun jumping over a running train to save a baby. The VFX used for this sequence is off-grade.
The drama is inexistant right from the start. The film is a mere compilation of one illogical scene after another from the start to the end. What we are served at the last is a senseless film that keeps going back and forth like a headless chicken.
Varun and Sara get outright silly roles and they don’t have any scope to perform. Varun Dhawan goes overboard at times and this makes things even more scrappy. Sara looks glamorous and she tries her best to salvage a poorly written role.
The film is a perfect coming together of a bland story and uninspiring performances from the lead cast. It is one of those films that makes you wonder how the director, David Dhawan in this case, could get it so wrong. If it is tough to make a good film, it is even tougher to make a film as bad as this one.
Coolie No. 1 is possibly one of the worst films to have been released in the recent past and it can easily be avoided. It is a colossal dud, to say the least.
