It is neither the deadly bouncer nor a searing Yorker but a monkey that injured a player who missed the opportunity to be a part of his national team in the most prestigious world cup. Australia's Jake Fraser-McGurk got sent home from the Under-19 World Cup in South Africa after getting scratched on face by a monkey.

Jake was at a nature reserve on Thursday when the incident happened. Precautionary treatment within seven days of the accident deemed necessary.

“We want to make sure that Jake doesn’t have any ongoing medical concerns as a result of the incident so we have taken the best course of action,” said Alex Kountouris, Cricket Australia’s sports science, and sports medicine manager.

'It serves me right for getting too close to the...enclosure. That's a lesson learned,' Jake said.
