Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai has grandly inaugurated the Vishnuvardhan memorial near Halalu in Mysore. Vishnuvardhan's wife, actress Bharathi Vishnuvardhan attended the inauguration ceremony. Her son-in-law Anirudh, and daughter Keerthi Vishnuvardhan also attended the event. MP Pratap Sinha also attended the event. The event began with a tour of the Vishnu photo gallery at the memorial. Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai laid flowers on Vishnu's statue. And then he officially opened the memorial.
According to reports, MP Pratap Sinha, MLA GT Deve Gowda, former minister Ram Das, and Vishnu's family members shared the stage with the CM. The program began with the singing of the state anthem. Vishnuvardhan supporters also demanded the Karnataka Ratna Award for Vishnuvardhan. They were holding placards requesting that the Chief Minister consider the fans' request. Vishnu's supporters witnessed the event while holding posters.
According to media reports, Vishnu devotees flocked to Mysuru from all over the state. In this context, police security around the memorial has been beefed up. Over 550 police officers have been assigned to provide security at the event.
In a massive procession, thousands of fans marched from Bangalore to Mysore. Vishnu fans left for Mysuru after paying their respects at Vishnu Samadhi at Abhiman Studio in Bengaluru. Vishnu fans have expressed outrage at the state government for treating the event like an afterthought. They are angry at holding the event for the sake of its name rather than out of respect. Vishnu fans are also disappointed that the Kannada cinema industry and actors did not pay much attention to the event. They also wonder if this is the respect Vishnu deserves for serving the industry in his best capacity. He has appeared in over 200 Kannada films as a hero.
