Former Union Minister Sharad Yadav Passes Away

Sharad Yadav, former Union minister and former chief of the Janata Dal (United), died late Thursday at a hospital in Gurugram, with tributes flooding in for the 75-year-old veteran politician and orator. Yadav leaves behind a wife, a daughter, and a son. According to the Fortis Memorial Research Institute, Yadav was rushed to the emergency room. He was unconscious and unresponsive. “On examination, he did not have any pulse or recordable blood pressure. He underwent CPR as per ACLS protocols. Despite best efforts, he could not be revived and was declared dead at 10.19 pm,” the statement said. Yadav’s daughter Subhashini Sharad Yadav posted on Facebook: “Papa nahi rahe (Papa is no more)”. “Pained by the passing away of Shri Sharad Yadav Ji. In his long years in public life, he distinguished himself as MP and Minister. He was greatly inspired by Dr. Lohia’s ideals. I will always cherish our interactions. Condolences to his family and admirers. Om Shanti,” Prime Minister Narendra Modi tweeted on Thursday night. Yadav formed the Loktantrik Janata Dal in 2018. It was after the JD(U) decided to return to an alliance with the BJP in Bihar. He had been unwell for a while, according to a person close to the family. The politician combined his group with Lalu Yadav's RJD in March 2020, which he stated was the 'first step towards a united Opposition'. Yadav, a ten-time MP (seven in the Lok Sabha and three in the Rajya Sabha), was known as a towering socialist politician. He was a major face of the JP movement and was motivated by Ram Manohar Lohia's ideas. He was the JD(Ufirst )'s president, serving from 2003 until 2016. He was the Union Minister for Civil Aviation and Food and Civil Supplies in the Atal Bihari Vajpayee government.
