The COVID-19 cases in India have been rapidly increasing as every day the country is reporting more than 1 lakh cases which is the highest of all time. The capital has contributed to around 3548 fresh cases on Monday.

The Chief Minister of Delhi, Arvind Kejriwal released a statement saying the surging cases in Delhi needs to be controlled as the fourth wave has already struck the capital. The curfew has been imposed starting from today itself and will go on as long as the end of April, i.e. 30th. 'As per the current situation, we are not considering imposing a lockdown. We are closely monitoring the situation and such a decision will only be taken after due public consultation,' he had told reporters.

During the curfew, the traffic will not be stopped in the city and those going out for vaccinations will also be allowed to commute with e-passes. Those going out for essential reasons such as stocking up fruits, vegetables, rations, medicines will also be allowed with the help of e-passes. Doctors, nurses and other COVID warriors will also be allowed to commute during the curfew. The main reason for the curfew is to restrict unnecessary outgoings in the capital for the time being. Earlier, states such as Maharashtra and Rajasthan had also imposed night curfews in their states to control the cases of this deadly virus.
