Batting first, Mumbai Indians posted a mere 137 on the board despite getting off to a great start, courtesy of a fluent and eye-pleasing innings from the Hitman, Rohit Sharma. The men in blue kept losing wickets in clusters and could never really accelerate towards the end of the innings.
Delhi got off to a rollicking start as they lost Prithvi Shaw in the second over. But the in-form batsman Shikhar Dhawan played a mature inning before getting out in the penultimate stage. He scored 45 runs and played the anchor role for his side.
At one stage, Delhi looked very comfortable while chasing down the small target but they did inflict some self-harm by losing Dhawan and Pant at a crucial juncture.
Bumrah bowled an uncharacteristic penultimate over(19th over). He bowled two no-balls which yielded 4 runs in total. This turned the tide in Delhi’s favour and they happily accepted the unexpected gift from Mumbai’s talismanic bowler. Delhi now moves to the top of the table and Mumbai stand in 4th position.
Punjab Kings and SunRisers Hyderabad who sit at the bottom of the table take on each other tomorrow.
