IPL 2021: SRH collapse against Mumbai Indians, register 3rd consecutive defeat

After a blistering start from Bairstow and David Warner, chasing down the target of 151 set by Mumbai Indians did not seem to be the biggest of challenges for SunRisers Hyderabad but things fell apart soon after the departure of the former. The men in orange fell 13 runs short of the target and registered their 3rd straight defeat of the season.

Mumbai started off well in the first innings thanks to controlled aggression from Rohit Sharma(32) but the pitch kept deteriorating as the innings progressed and the defending champions could post just 150 in the end. That too courtesy of two big sixes scored by Pollard off the last two balls. These 12 runs eventually proved to be the difference between the two sides.
SunRisers got off to a dream start thanks to some pinch-hitting from Bairstow who scored a quickfire 43 off 22. The floodgates opened after Warner got out for 36 runs following some exceptionally good fielding by Hardik Pandya. The batsmen who followed him could not create any impetus barring Vijay Shankar who hit two huge sixes off Krunal Pandya’s bowling in the 16th over.
Bumrah was unplayable as usual towards the end as conceded just 5 runs off the 19th over. With 15 needed off the final over, Boult was simply brilliant and gave away just a couple of runs and picked 2 wickets. In the end, Mumbai won the game by 13 runs.
SRH now stand at the bottom of the table and are yet to open their account in the points column. Mumbai Indians move to the top of the table with 4 points.
