Ravi Shastri, the India coach, said that MS Dhoni, the former national team captain, and wicket-keeper, may soon end his ODI career and focus on T20 cricket.

Dhoni, who led India to the 2007 T20 World Cup and 2011 50-over World Cup titles, has not played since India's semi-final exit at the ICC Men's Cricket World Cup 2019. He is currently on a break from cricket, but with no imminent announcement of retirement, there is uncertainty about whether he is still a part of India's plans.

'I have had a conversation with MS and that is between us. He has finished his Test career, he may soon end his ODI career. In all probability, he will finish one-day cricket,' Shastri said.

'At his age, probably the only format he'll want to play is T20 cricket which means he'll have to start playing again, get back into the groove because he's going to play in the IPL and see how his body reacts,' Shastri added.

Meanwhile, Team India are currently auditioning for the ICC T20 World Cup in Australia next year. They are trying out different combinations as the Men in Blues are eyeing their second World Cup trophy after the inaugural edition in 2007.
