An unfortunate incident took place at Muharram celebration. An overcrowded roof collapsed during Muharram procession in Andhra Pradesh's Kurnool district late Monday night, leaving around 20 people injured.
The injured were immediately rushed to Kurnool Government General hospital for treatment. Of the 20 people five of them were known to have sustained head and bone fractures.
Hundreds of people had gathered to participate in the procession at the B. Thandrapadu village when the incident happened. According to information, the villagers have organized a dance program surrounding the embers pit.
All villagers assembled at the function place and some of them were known to be watching from the house rooftops. While the dancing session is under progress an extension of the house roof suddenly collapsed on the people stationed under it.
The roof extension could not hold the number of people standing on it. Taluka police on learning about the incident rushed to the spot and took the stock to control.
