The 'Chalo Tank Bund' protest, called by the Telangana State Road Transport Corporation Joint Action Committee (TSRTC JAC), turned violent on Saturday after police lathi-charged protesters. ... Retaliating to the lathi charge, protestors allegedly pelted stones at the police personnel, injuring a few severely.
RTC Employees got chased on the streets by the police personnel. Even female protestors weren't spared during the Lathi-Charge. Visuals of RTC Employees in extreme pain on the roads have really touched the hearts of the public. We saw some of the employees bleeding with severe hand, leg and facial injuries.
We can see how desperate the TRS Government and the Police are to stop this protest. Hence they prepared for everything to neutralize the effect of the strike. Police made hundreds of house arrests in each district since Friday to foil Chalo Tank Bund. As many as 5,000 people had taken into preventive custody across the state. Here is a count... 450 in Warangal Urban, 300 in Janagama, 245 in Mahbubnagar, 311 in Vikarabad, 731 in Rachakonda Commissionerate Limits and 523 in Cyberabad Commissionerate Limits.
Even, Anjani Kumar claimed that besides the members of the RTC unions, some frontal organizations of Maoists and other parties had involved in stone-pelting incidents at 7-8 places, causing injuries to senior police officials including an Additional Deputy Commissioner and two Assistant Commissioners of Police. We don’t know to what extent do these comments make sense but this tells us the situation where the Police can’t even resist to tie up the protestors with Maoists.
