The coronavirus pandemic has brought the entire world to a standstill. People in various countries are staying at home to save themselves from the spread of the disease. Even government officials and celebrities are requesting people to stay indoors and maintain social distancing. Legendary Cricketer Sachin Tendulkar compared the fight against Coronavirus with Test cricket. He said that it is probably the best time to draw lessons from the oldest format of the game.
Sachin wrote a special column on this issue in Times of India. In his column, Sachin said that the virus is beyond our collective comprehension. In spite of this, he affirmed, it could get beaten with the tactics used in Test cricket. Sachin wrote that Test cricket always rewards you for respecting what you don't understand. It makes the player value the virtue of patience. He stated lyrically that when we don't understand the bowling attack, the defence is the best form of attack. The same thing applies, he suggested, to the battle against Coronavirus. He added that patience is all we require right now. Sachin believes that with patience and defence, we can control the spread of the novel new virus across the globe.
Sachin also wrote that test cricket is all about partnerships and teamwork. He urged all the countries to consider themselves as one team. Test cricket, he said, is about comebacks. If we lose the first innings, there is always the second innings, he added. He urged everyone to take this battle session by session, so that humanity can emerge victorious at the end of it.
