BCCI is yet to officially comment about the severity of Iyer’s injury but reports claim that his road to recovery will be a long one. Recovering from shoulder injuries is a lengthy process and requires an extensive rehabilitation process.
Team India vice-captain for the white-ball formats, Rohit Sharma is also suffering from a bruised rig elbow after taking a blow from Mark Wood’s full-on pace delivery which was clocked at around 150 Km/hr. He is doubtful for the remaining two ODIs as well.
Meanwhile, Delhi Capitals is sweating over their captain Iyer’s injury as his absence will leave a big void in the team. That said, his recovery cannot be rushed, especially so with the T20 World Cup around the corner.
The IPL will be commencing on the 9th of April and franchises have already started preparing for the same.
Apart from Rohit and Shreyas, England captain Eoin Morgan and Sam Billings are also doubtful for the remaining matches in the series. Morgan sustained a split webbing and Billings injured his collarbone in yesterday’s game.
The second and potentially series-deciding match between India and England is set to be played on the 26th of this month.
