Delhi: The Supreme Court granted interim bail to social activist Teesta Setalvad. Teesta was granted bail with conditions with full cooperation with further investigations. It is also suggested that you produce the passport in court. A bench headed by Chief Justice UU Lalit heard the petition. While hearing the petition yesterday, the court criticised the Gujarat Police and the High Court.

The charge sheet has not been filed for two months. There is nothing in the FIR other than the observations made by the Supreme Court dismissing Sakia Jaffrey's case. The High Court took six weeks to respond to the notice. The court also said that the alleged crimes were not as serious as murder. The court also clarified yesterday that there are no offences that would prevent the grant of bail.

The Supreme Court acquitted Modi and others in the Gujarat riots case. The court directed that appropriate legal action should be taken against those who made false allegations and provided false evidence in the case. Teesta was arrested by the police after this. Ahmedabad Crime Branch arrested Teesta and Sreekumar on June 25.

Sreekumar, who was the ADGP during the riots, presented evidence against the then-Modi government before the Nanavati Commission. Former DIG Sanjeev Khanna, who is currently in jail, is the third accused in the FIR. The charges are false accusations, falsification of evidence, and conspiracy by the three. But Teesta's lawyer argues that this case is an act of revenge.
