The chief minister of Telangana K Chandrasekhar Rao called for a cabinet meeting earlier today to discuss the pandemic situation and the precautionary measures that are being taken by the state government to arrest the spread of Covid.
Following the cabinet meeting, the government of Telangana announced that the state will be observing a 10-day lockdown starting from the 12th of May. Related orders were passed by the home department.
Stores and outlets selling essential products will be allowed to operate between 6 AM - 10 AM every day. Public movement is strictly prohibited post 10 AM. These lockdown regulations will be in effect till 22nd May.
The state government will be assessing the situation next week and then decide on whether or not to extend the lockdown period. The chief minister KCR will be taking the final call in this regard.
A couple of weeks ago, the Telangana government had imposed a night curfew in the state but it did not yield the best of results as the Covid caseload kept ascending at an alarming rate. In a bid to amplify the precautionary measures, the government decided to impose a lockdown.
