Indian skipper Virat Kohli, on Monday, got his first jab of the coronavirus vaccine. Sharing his picture of getting the vaccination, Kohli requested and urged his fans to do the same. 'Vaccinate as soon as you can please. Stay safe,' he wrote in the post. Last week, cricketers like Ajinkya Rahane, Ishant Sharma, Shikhar Dhawan, Umesh Yadav, etc got their first dose of vaccine.
As the Indian Premier League has been suspended for this year after some players contracted COVID-19, all the players are preparing for their next tour. It will be for the World Test Championship where India will be seen competing with New Zealand.
The official statement of BCCI to ANI reads, 'The Indian government has opened vaccination for every person above 18 so the players can take their first dose. But the second dose is the question here and while the BCCI is looking at working closely with England and Wales Cricket Board to ensure players can get a second dose in the UK if that is not approved by the UK government, we will have the vaccine taken from India for the second dose. Let’s see how that works out in the coming days.'
